A food handling, sanitation and work safety course designed for food service establishment operators and front line food service workers such as cooks, servers, bussers, dishwashers, and deli workers. The course covers important food safety and worker safety information including foodborne illness, receiving and storing food, preparing food, serving food, cleaning and sanitizing.
By the end of the class participants will be able to:
- Describe a “culture of food safety”
- Describe a food handler’s responsibility in protecting food from contamination
- Identify applicable laws governing food safety and the authorities responsible for enforcement
- Explain how to handle a foodborne illness complaint
The FOODSAFE course is about preventing the transmission of food borne illness and also about worker safety on the job. People who prepare, serve and clean up food should take the course for the safety of the customers and also for their own safety.
